Enjoy abundant fishing plus other recreation in Missinipe in Northern Saskatchewan.
Thompson’s Camps is located on Otter Lake in the townsite of Missinipe, which is 80 km (50 miles) north of La Ronge on the Can-Am #2 highway. Walleye, northern pike and yellow perch abound in Otter Lake due to the cold moving water of the Churchill River system.
Choose your own adventure
at Thompson’s Camps Otter Lake Resort
Walleye, northern pike or perch are the main species on Otter Lake. Head out on the water in one of our fishing boats available to rent. Gasoline, fishnets, life jackets and a fish tub are all included.
Venture beyond Otter Lake, if you choose, to other areas of the Churchill River, multiple fly-out lakes, three outpost camps or numerous portage-in lakes and rivers. Set a budget and leave it to us.
Guides can take you to more than just where the fish are biting. This is where history and nature combine. View rock paintings by indigenous ancestors, and spot wildlife such as black bears, moose, bald eagles, beavers and others.
Enjoy the water in a canoe or kayak, snap photos during a hike, pick berries, or start a game of beach volleyball or swim at the sandy beach. In the winter, enjoy snowmobiling or snowshoeing. Everyone in your group will find something to love!
All the time spent outdoors will stir up a heavy appetite. Enjoy a home-cooked meal, whether prepared by our gourmet chef or by you at your cabin.
Spend your nights in a cabin just right for your group, whether two of you are getting cozy or 17 are gathering for a good time. Make use of our banquet and conference facilities.
Make yourself at home at Thompson’s Campus Otter Lake Resort. Reconnect with those most important to you.

Great friendly staff when booking trip, as well as excellent guide. We will be going again! Accommodations were top notch we stayed in Walker Bay Cabin, and rented Pontoon boat everyday with guide, worth every penny.
Trip was so awesome, I’m coming back in two weeks! Breakfast was eggcellent. Guide entertained the guests. Fell in love with the lake.
Our trip to Otter Lake and the Thompson Camp was incredible. Our family of 12 really enjoyed the experience from the great customer service to the beautiful log cabins our stay was awesome. We are planning for next year already and will be bringing our extended family as well.
Great for anyone looking for a clean fishing camp. Caught over 100 total with 6 people. July 1st fireworks were amazing. Must visit for avid fish loving people.
We enjoyed our stay and, as always, were treated very well. Office staff, managers, dock personnel and house keeping staff all doing a fantastic job and should be very proud of themselves! Makes coming to this facility a treat!
Immerse yourself in nature with a visit to one of our outpost camps in Northern Saskatchewan. Feel the freedom of complete seclusion where the only distraction from the incredible fishing is the spectacular scenery.
Northern pike, lake trout, walleye and grayling are available throughout our selection of camps. There are three to choose from – Hickson Lake Outpost Camp, Dead Lake Outpost Camp, and Upper Foster Lake Outpost Camp.
Make yourself at home in one of our cabins, which can accommodate as many as eight people. We supply the boats, motors and gas to explore your new surroundings. Satellite communication provides you the security you need to completely unwind. Your task is to simply relax.
The Dead Lake Outpost Camp is our most popular outpost camp. Reach it in just 12 minutes when flying from Thompson’s Camps Otter Lake Resort. Experience excellent fishing for walleye and Northern pike at any point in the season. Two cabins are waiting for your group to settle in and the beach invites you to enjoy the water.
Hickson Lake Outpost Camp is the closest trout fishing outpost camp to Thompson’s Camps Otter Lake Resort. Surrounded on all sides by incredible Canadian Shield scenery and numerous Native American Rock Paintings, this is where exceptional fishing is minutes away from the cabin.
Upper Foster Lake Outpost Camp is our largest outpost camp, making it the choice for family reunions and other group functions. Two cabins are available to house up to eight people. You’ll want to bring your most intrepid companions. Upper Foster Lake is large, remote and challenging to navigate, making it the place for the truly adventurous. The reward is exceptional northern pike (many trophy sized) and large lake trout fishing.
